Dr. Adeola Adelayo is double board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Adelayo completed her General Psychiatry residency and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship also at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Institute for Juvenile Research respectively.
Dr. Adelayo is trained in the management of emotional and behavioral problems across the developmental continuum and believes in comprehensive psychiatric care and works collaboratively with patients to develop a holistic treatment plan. She incorporates techniques from a wide variety of psychological styles in conjunction to psychopharmacologic management of psychiatric illnesses.She is very conservative in her use of medications and is open to alternative medicines and therapies. She is very passionate about the benefit of treating the whole person as they relate to their psychosocial environment whether it be within their family, work or school. Particular areas of interests are Women’s issues, relational issues and pediatric management of emotional disorders.
Dr. Adelayo is an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association. She enjoys hiking, Theatre and traveling with her husband and 3 daughters. Dr. Adelayo prides herself in her great compassion for patient care and ability to empathically elicit her patients concerns and vigorously address these concerns with them.
