Adolescence is a time of critical changes and transition for youth. A time of leaving childhood and preparing for adulthood and also a time when peer group activities escalate. Adolescents experience physical and cognitive changes. Physical refers to puberty onset which means changes in reproductive and sexual maturation and Cognitive in the form of moving from dependence on parents and older siblings to independence
This involves physical changes (leaving home) emotional, social, psychological and mental changes. Although most adolescence transition with relative and minimal problems, statistics, however. shows that one out of every ten adolescents has a mental illness leading to functional impairment. These youths are at high risk of emotional and behavioral problems; acting aggressively towards others, develop rituals, use alcohol or drugs, clinging to caregivers, self-harm, or have negative beliefs and feelings about themselves and experiencing a poor quality of life or drugs, clinging to caregivers, self-harm, or have negative beliefs and feelings about themselves.
